While some people like to leave the stump behind when they remove a tree, there are several good reasons to remove it. At Crosson & Payne, we remove stumps for aesthetic purposes, to keep termites and other insects out of the yard (a decaying stump is the perfect breeding ground for pests) and for ease of lawn mowing.
With three stump grinders, including two pull-behind grinders and one remote-controlled four-wheel drive grinder, “we can grind pretty much any stump known to man” as Travis puts it. We have ground stumps up to 11 feet in diameter and up to 18 inches deep. For stumps that cannot be ground due to location, for example those situated over utilities or wells, we can chemically treat the stump to ensure it does not sprout unattractive re-growth.
