Crosson and Payne Tree Service provides the following tree services in Highlands, Hardee, Glades, Polk, DeSoto and Okeechobee counties. Estimates are free with no money down on contracted work. Crosson & Payne is a fully insured tree service provider.
If you have questions about the aesthetics, health, stability or risk posed by a tree on your property, as ISA Certified Arborists®, Travis Crosson and Kelly Payne can provide the answers you seek. Crosson & Payne can recommend treatment for ill trees, determine whether or not a tree is structurally sound, and assess potential risk when trees are located close to structures or utilities. Their extensive knowledge obtained through the ISA Certified Arborists® certification program makes them experts in their field.
With a variety of tools and machinery at their disposal, Crosson & Payne can be trusted to remove trees of any size and structure from residential or commercial properties. Our fleet consists of bucket trucks with a material handler that works as a crane arm, as well as two lighter-weight backyard aerial lifts that are safe to use on residential lawns. For removal of large trees overhanging homes or other structures, we protect your roof by skillfully using rope and pulley systems to lower heavy tree material in a controlled manner. At Crosson & Payne, the safety of person and property is paramount.
While some people like to leave the stump behind when they remove a tree, there are several good reasons to remove it. At Crosson & Payne, we remove stumps for aesthetic purposes, to keep termites and other insects out of the yard (a decaying stump is the perfect breeding ground for pests) and for ease of lawn mowing.
With three stump grinders, including two pull-behind grinders and one remote-controlled four-wheel drive grinder, “we can grind pretty much any stump known to man” as Travis puts it. We have ground stumps up to 11 feet in diameter and up to 18 inches deep. For stumps that cannot be ground due to location, for example those situated over utilities or wells, we can chemically treat the stump to ensure it does not sprout unattractive re-growth.
There is a wrong way and a right way to prune a tree, and unfortunately many tree service companies continue to use poor practices such as “topping,” which are visually unappealing as well as damaging to the tree.
As ISA Certified Arborists®, we at Crosson & Payne use techniques that ensure an appealing canopy while protecting the overall structure, health and longevity of the plant.
Of course we remove all debris from the work site when we complete a job, but if you have done some pruning yourself and need tree material removed from the premises, give us a call. We’ll be happy to come and haul it away for you.
For our clients who need land cleared of unwanted vegetation and underbrush, we have the equipment to do even the largest job. Whether you are maintaining fence lines on a ranch, need fire lines cut in a state park or simply want to make your property useful, our fleet of three skid-steer loaders and one Fecon FTX 148L bull hog forestry mulcher are at your service. We are proud to say that our forestry mulching services have been contracted by Florida State Parks as well as the United States Air Force.
Many land clearing contractors only clear building lots or large tracts of land. Most tree services are not equipped to clear land. Crosson & Payne clears anything from small portions of residential lots to acres at a time. With an 18 ton excavator, 4ft clearing rake, and a variety of dump trucks and semi-towed dump trailers, we can clear it and haul it. When mature trees are left on the property, our ISA Certified Arborists® can provide a detailed evaluation and proper pruning. If construction is planned, our staff can set up tree protection zones to protect trees and their root systems throughout the construction process.
