Crosson & Payne Tree & Land Service came about when two experienced tree service owners and friends decided to join forces. Travis Crosson and Kelly Payne worked the same geographic area, never really having to compete with one another. But when the economy took a downturn in 2010, they each took steps to survive the lull– Travis working alone and taking on only small jobs and Kelly using his team to tackle big ones. The two referred clients to one another and eventually landed a large project for the U.S. Air Force that neither could do alone.
After successful completion of the federal government’s project, the partners decided they shared the same values in life and in business– that is a high degree of professionalism, trustworthiness, a commitment to customer service, and fair treatment for both clients and employees (no work is contracted out and none of their employees are paid minimum wage).
Get to know Travis and Kelly
Both Travis and Kelly are churchgoing, family-oriented individuals who have spent their lives working hard in Florida’s heartland.
Travis was born in Avon Park and started Travis Crosson Tree Service in 1997 after graduating from Avon Park High School and working awhile as a prison guard. He is happily married with three children and loves doing what he does. Says Travis, “When you can provide a service and make people happy, it doesn’t get much better than that.”
Kelly is a native of Frostproof who had a career as a cowboy before moving to Highlands County in 1997 and starting Kelly Payne Tree Service. “I started off with a pickup truck, a ladder and a chain saw,” Kelly recalls. It’s been years of hard work as an owner/operator, but Kelly, a husband and father of two, says he wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Both Travis and Kelly are ISA Certified Arborists® providing a number of tree services in Highlands, Glades, Polk, Okeechobee, DeSoto and Hardee counties.
